Whitelabeling AI: When to Put Your Brand on Our Stack
White-labeling a model product can shortcut years of work — or waste them on the wrong partner. Here's how we think about branded instances, honestly.
A lot of companies want to sell AI without building the AI. That’s exactly what a whitelabel is for. But it only works when the split between you and the builder is the right one. Here’s the deal we actually offer, and the honest conditions for when it makes sense.
What we provide
When you brand Baanzon AI under your own name, we keep the parts that require a deep bench and you keep the parts that create your moat:
- We handle: the foundation models, the runtime, the tenancy, the compliance spine, the scaling, the version upgrades.
- You keep: the brand, the story, the distribution, the sales motion, the customer relationships, the pricing.
Your customers talk to your product. The model underneath is ours, but they never have to know or care — the same way a bank customer doesn’t care who runs the core ledger.
When it makes sense
Three signs a whitelabel is the right call:
- You own a channel. You have distribution — an audience, a vertical, an existing customer base that trusts you.
- The intelligence isn’t your differentiator. Your edge is the workflow, the integration, the regulatory position in your market. The model is table stakes.
- You want speed. Building and governing an owned model stack takes years and a specialist bench. Branding ours takes weeks.
When it doesn’t
Be honest with yourself:
- If you have no existing channel, a whitelabel is just a resale agreement with extra steps. You’ll build the same go-to-market as you would for anything else.
- If the model itself is the product you’re selling, you’re renting someone else’s edge and calling it yours. Your margin will never be your decision.
- If you need deep control — your own fine-tunes, your own data residency, your own audit posture — you may want to build on the stack directly rather than white-label a finished product.
The messy middle: built-on, not branded
Between “rent their API” and “whitelabel their product” is the mode we actually see most teams end up in: building your own surface on our stack. You get the ownership, the governance and the tuning — with our engineering bench as your backend. It’s more work than white-labeling, and it buys you a moat that a brand swap never will.
If you’re thinking about this, the honest first question isn’t “what’s your price?” It’s “what exactly is yours to keep?” The answer tells you which of the three modes you’re really in.
Build with us, not from scratch.
This is the thinking behind the products. If it resonates, the next step is a conversation with an engineer — not a sales deck.
